TOPIC: It's time to eliminate the 3rd level player bonus

Yep it was possible to pick up 7k in 1 day at Gen Con (assuming you didn't play N series last year).
Odin 1k (Normal)
Swamp 2k (Hardcore or higher)
Path 2k (Hardcore or higher)
Infernal 2k (Hardcore or higher)

Boom in day you have 7k in xp. I don't see this as a problem at all. If you can and want to play then you should get xp.
You either discover a star or you don't. You arrogant punk.

I never said it should, I said it sucked.

I don't think the tokens you have or don't have though should have any bearing though either on who should get to play a class. Legendary bow player wants to use his bow as much as the red bow player wants to use his. That one choose to spend money on a bow and the other did not doesn't matter imo.

I never said you did. I am just added it sucked would suck for either player. Both would not get to play with their best bow.

In the first situation that shouldn't have happened. Players who arrive on time get to "pull rank" as it were and clearly if he was 15 past the posted start time he wasnt.

The second situation makes me mad. We are a community not a competition. And I honestly hope that they feel ashamed of themselves if they did that.

Maybe it is time to abolish this rule. It turns our lovely game into a me first sort of thing.

I'd agree with that. The criteria should never be the person with the most or best tokens wins the tiebreakers.

One thing that I feel the need to correct is the false “back in my day it took 11 years to get to level 3, walking through the snow, uphill, both ways. Kids these days just don’t have to wait for it like I did.”

As early as 2005 it was possible to make level 3 in one year.

I’d be fine doing away with this benefit.

As for minimizing conflict in coaching I think it is de facto first come first served.

Formally there needs to be conflict resolution that isn’t first come first served.

I think it should be a roll off, and the roll off should happen when the coach arrives, anyone not present when the roll off occurs gets to pick from what is left over, period.

I'd be for that.
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

I know this has been discussed numerous times. Not sure if this idea has been thrown out before or not. Just putting it down and seeing the reaction.

Players can enter the coaching area prior to the start time by whatever admin allows (10m/30m/etc). At the start time of the ticketed event the coach arrives and any players in the room now get to pick their classes. It goes like this.

The coach goes down the party card in order asking if anyone wants to play that class. If only one person wants that class then they get it. If more than 1 then roll off (high roll wins - continue until there is no tie). After this initial round the remaining classes are chosen as the players arrive late and there is no roll off needed (order of arrival). They are not allowed to "challenge" a previously chosen class. If they want the opportunity to pick/roll for their class they will arrive early.

If a player arrives during the coach/class selection they must wait until the process is finished and if they were the first late arrival they will pick first from the remaining classes.

Possible problem:
I want to play Monk, and so does someone else so we roll off. I lose, so now I want to play my secondary choice of Fighter but because it comes first alphabetically someone else chose it.

So that is the breaks by the alphabet. You need to decide that before - no going back. At least you know the rules going in and no surprises.

Same. 1 card per player, first dibs. Negotiate if you can.

No way should someone who's been there for 30 minutes and laid out their tokens (and possibly traded tokens, and had a coach start recording bonuses) have to switch classes.
I came here to sing and collect tokens, and I'm alllll out of money.
