Is there an actual survey?

Wizards should totally not be red. Purple would be great, or grey or white (for Gandalf). I have never associated red with wizards. I would say green for the elf wizard, but green should be Druid or ranger.

Red is a color I have always associated with barbarians (red = rage).

Not a color survey, just a slider feedback survey at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/JYH9KLN

Personally, I've always associated Barbarians with brown (leather) and Clerics with red (think FF White Mage, or a white outfit with a big red cross on it - the white ends up fading into the background to me).

Ed, I know there's no chance you'll wind up making everyone happy with the slider colors for the different classes which is why I'm not going to weigh in on them. I do hope that Jeff likes the idea of different color pucks because I can see it helping improve game play and making combats more efficient.

Thanks for taking some of your personal time to work on things that will enhance the game!!!

If they continue to provide both white and yellow lights to players, then make color selections that are easy to tell apart under both white and yellow light.

This is my worry as well. At GHC with the yellow light I had a hell of a time trying to identify the blue bead

Not much of a Forgotten Realms player? I think the Wizards of Thay were called Red? Or did we jsut play that game for so many years with a made up group of Red Wizards of Thay and I am mixed up?

Thanks for everyone's input so far. As I mentioned it is unlikely we will get an consensus but I have tried to take the feedback and apply it. I stuck with a few guiding themes:
  • The "twin" classes (Wizard/Fighter) shouldn't have the same base color with slightly different shades
  • When possible the color should have some class meaning (although your mileage may vary there)
  • Some color class choices were given to long time volunteers as a perk

Feel free to provide feedback on them. As before be sure to follow the feedback guidelines if you suggest a different color for a class.
  • Be constructive and considerate to others
  • If you change a color for an existing class be sure to list out all the changed colors not just for the one class (e.g. Rogue should Sapphire Blue, Dwarf Fighter should then be Gold)
  • The color choice is only for the outside ring. All sliders will be white based with black lettering

Rational
  • Barbarian (Carmel) - Match their brown leathers
  • Bard (Gold) - Singing for those gold coins as tips
  • Cleric (Aqua) - Green for healing
  • Druid (Mocha) - For all those brown trees they protect
  • Dwarf Figher (Lava) - The color of their beards
  • Elf Wizard (Sky) - Matches their shocking nature
  • Fighter (Silver) - Their glimmering plate mail
  • Monk (Violet) - Last distinct color left
  • Paladin (Snow) - Pure as the driven snow
  • Ranger (Hunter) - The only color everyone agreed on
  • Rogue (Sapphire) - What else would a rogue pocket
  • Wizard (Fire) - Because Wizards cast Fire (and we all duck)

I am still going to lobby for Cleric to be Sun because Pelor is the Sun God.

+1 to this. But mainly because I think Sun provides more distinction between the Ranger's Hunter. The more distinct colors the better. So my changes would be:

Cleric - Sun
Rogue - Midnight
Fighter - Sapphire

However, I have a feeling that a certain veteran Rogue might have already been allowed to pick the Sapphire color for that puck. In which case I'd change the Fighter to Midnight. Not that I think it's a great color for the Fighter but it separates it more from the Paladin's color.

You might also want to swap the Barbarian color out with Blush if the Caramel is similar to the Gold.
