If TD was going to reprint a piece of one of the recipes it would be AoTF due to it being only 1 point of the 7 points requirement. And Jeff has already said he will not be reprinting AoTF.

We could also just clarify the recipe to say 2013 Charm of Good Fortune since that's really what it takes today, maybe new charms could count for 1 or even 0 points but I don't see it as a barrier we couldn't overcome.

Worst case, the 2013 CoGF is only 2 points vs 1 for AotF so assuming both were available for ~100 PYP prices, we would be talking about the COA being craft-able for about 1K with 4 COGF as opposed to about 1.3k with 7 AOFT (using kirks site for prices on the rest of the mats). IMO that still does a good job of maintaining the floor on price.

Mike Steele wrote: Out of curiosity, are you disagreeing that a reprinted TE UR won't sell as well as a new one?

Yes, I think given the amount of time between either ROR/COGF and the end of the nuggets, plus the number pulled out of circulation to make COAs, and the potential to get in on a synergy effect/make cheaper COAs, either would out sell a new +2-3 TE. But to be frank I don't really want to get into it since its all just speculation on our parts.

We do agree some. I do think relatively few RoR and CoGF were printed, and demand for their first reprinting would be pretty high. I do think it would still be somewhat lower since there are some in circulation and because that would let people know not to stockpile them too much since they are more likely to be reprinted again.

I think further reprintings of them, or nugget reprinting, would be a lot lower in sales.

Like you said though, we're all just speculating at this point.

Just tell me the new Crafted TE is not going to be a Neck piece. 😖

That is the one thing that I think it would PROBABLY (I don't know) would be safe to say. Since class specific Legendary tokens are supposed to go in the neck slot for the next few years. There would likely be a fair about of push back on something fighting with those Legendaries.

So that means its the ideal slot to put the new TE in. Do you want extra treasure, or do you want the class specific legandary? It provides choices for older players , and newer (2023ish) players won't be able to easily make the older class specific legendary anyway.

Yes and no... It depends on how much of a token sink you want it to be. For it to be an effective sink, it needs to draw as many transmuters as possible.

If not for the nuggets, I'd expect the transmuted TE to wind up in the Ioun Stone slot, as part of Jeff's reason for making the CoA seemed to be to avoid the slot locking that the HoP caused. Heck, even if the transmuted TE winds up in Ioun Stone slot, you'd still have one free slot even with all the TE in place.

I gotta say if I had just finished making a class specific legendary neck and a good for everyone TE neck came out the year after I would feel like I had been trolled hard.

Why is that? Would the te immediately bump any other item that you might put in the slot?

For most it would. TEs tend to push out everything else pretty quickly.

Mainly I would feel like I had been asked to spend real money on something in good faith without being given all the info. It would (for me at least) immediately sour the class specific legendary I had already made, and not in the fun choices choices way either.

While part of me does like the idea of making players choose between more loot and more powerful stats/abilities when it comes to their legendaries, I've played enough games with MF gear to know how negatively a solid chunk of players would react. <_<

There is an easy way to do that. Any reprint TE that is in the CoA recipe would be 1 point so 2023 RoR is worth 1 point.

I am not advocating or dismissing reprints just saying how they could work with the CoA.

I would like to see something like that work for alternate path to CoA or non stacking equivalent. Point system is a way to allow current in print pyps to be used while you can reward those who hung onto the old ones. Picc used a good example above to show even going that route with a similar recipe isn't exactly cheap but it makes it available for those who want to work that path on what many around here consider a must have for the serious player/build.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

I wouldn't even mind the choice, I would just want to know what my options were before I spent the money either way.
