Will it work with an iPad or other tablet?

Zoom works on iOS and Android. But I suspect you'll want a larger screen to see things on. (that's just a guess though)

I could use tablet for camera and sound, desktop for visual?

Yes, though I've preferred to use my phone for camera, and laptop for visual and audio (usb headphones in the laptop).

I do have a couple iDevices, and I’ve got a couple weeks to play around & figure out what works. Thanks for the tips!

You mentioned potentially getting a camera for your computer. I know my work has been trouble finding those in stock at reasonable prices. If you (or others) run into that problem, something to consider is picking up a digital camcorder. Even many of the ~$70 models have a webcam mode. They take up a little more space than a regular webcam, so placement might be a little more effort. But they should work just about as well.

I've also seen some people have success by logging into a Zoom meeting from both their computer and their cellphone. They use their cellphone for the camera and microphone (and sometimes speaker), and then their computer for being able to see things on a larger screen.

Glad you're able to join in on this! :)

Webcams seem to be out of stock until later this summer. Will be doing two connections myself.

My suggestion for anyone planning on participating in a virtual TD session is to start testing Zoom NOW! Get a few friends together and start a Zoom meeting so that you can see what device works best for YOU. We will be the host of the "meeting" so there will not be a time limit. You can "Pin" someone, which means you always see that screen, regardless of who is speaking. Some may want to "Pin" the DM and have the "eyes for the room" person to watch OR vice versa.

Anyway, my suggestion is to mess around with it now to see what you prefer!

My old (and old is all too accurate) college D&D Group reunited for a new campaign on zoom. I’ll play around with your suggested ideas this weekend.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

I may have missed it-will XP be given for the virtual adventure?

Another bummer for me about GC not happening; I had a shot at hitting 7th level this year.

No big deal to those of you closing on level 10 I suppose, but big for me. That’s what I get from skipping TD a couple of years when my regular group decided it wasn’t for them. Decided I really enjoyed, and play all adventures at least once.

I think we do get XP for the virtual adventure and I know how you feel I close to 6th lvl myself but there is always next year
