Not sure exactly where you're going with this, but it feels like of unnecessarily aggressive.

I would imagine several on this forum have either worked for one, or volunteered, or raised money, for many 501c3.

Personally I've worked with the San Diego Blood Bank for over 10 years, and the organization has done quite a bit of good.

That's awesome! I bet you've saved a lot lives. This is roughly where I'm going with it, regarding your other concerns.

Anthony Barnstable wrote: I volunteered for one and was never in charge of managing the money, so I will say I do not have firsthand knowledge on that topic.

That's awesome, it sounds like you did some good.

I've come from the perspective of both helping to run a non-profit ( www.marys-hands.org ) and having worked with the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross is an amazing organization and definitely worthy of support. I did work helping to design and expand their corporate fundraising. Seeing the behemoth variety then running a non-profit with my wife, you get a sense of scale and challenges.

Worldbuilders is struggling with building itself as a true corporation that is self sufficient while optimizing how much of the money raised goes to the cause. They would benefit from having a period of time where they provide less to their causes and build a solid infrastructure to support what they are doing. In time, it will mean a better percent of what they raise will go to their cause. Until then, they struggle with basic problems like inventory tracking, email and marketing automation, etc that they solve as one-offs. Overall, that is far less efficient than having good processes and systems in place.

Gail McGovern, CEO of the Red Cross said it best, "No money, no mission." Treat it like a business first and the causes benefit more.

I also don't know what this is relevant to the thread (and also thought came across a bit aggressive though maybe it wasn't). But I will answer your question. I have worked for a 501c3 for number of year. But working for the 501c3 don't necessarily mean they that you raised money. University of California is a 501c3. What good they did/do with their money is highly debatable. Which could also be said about some other 501c3's but I am not going to into that a derail this thread even more.

That said I specifically now work for a company that helps 501c3 raise money in various ways. And I can tell you that we have large national organizations that everyone has heard of and we have some very local organization and everything in between. There is no common factor in my experience to how well organized they are, not by size or name recognition. They smaller one do till to run on a lot of volunteers, but they doesn't even factor in to how well or not well they run.

For what it's worth, I still like world builders. Mistakes happen, you roll with it and figure stuff out. I'm sure the last year hasn't been easy for them, but they got their donation out to heffer and everyone should feel good for their participation in that.

The honey will get here when it gets here, worse case, TD HQ could probably even alter the transmute recipe to be available longer or maybe even take a worldbuilders donation receipt (most of us should still have them in our email).

I still like World Builders as well. I will likely support them in the coming year. TD has a history of supporting them and I hope they continue to do so.

However, I sincerely hope TD never again partners with them in this manner. Please, please, please, if you decide to offer a unique token, let it be for sale through TD with all proceeds going to WB. TD has already proven that they can ship out hundreds of packages within 2 days, they do it with every VTD. Charge me extra for shipping, I really don't care, but don't set us up to go through this again.

I still haven't received anything. I donated enough for at least one honeycomb.

I wanted to talk with them about this at GenCon, but their #208 exhibitor space was empty the whole con. I am not mad at them and I am suspecting they have had some difficulties -- COVID related or other. I hope they can overcome whatever their challenges have been and continue to do the good work... and send us our honeycombs.
