We ran nightmare as well and were the 2nd run. I heard one of the DMs told if another Nightmare group comes through that he needed to up the HPs.

I was in the first group. We killed two of the monsters in one round. Another in the second. And though a combination of full set of Charms of Awakened Synergy and some clever tactics, none of them even swung at us.

So yes, we told every DM and the AC that something needed to be done.

I'm not sure a group running with a full set of CoAS may be the standard by which to judge difficulty, as that may be a party well above the curve in other ways as well. I do hear that Epic may be more of a challenge for a party like that.

So I have not run N1, but I do hear amazing things about it, especially at least one of my puzzles. I don't know if my expectations are too high, but I had a dream last night that one of the puzzles in N1 put you literally in outer space. Apparently Jeff had figured out how to cost-effectively transport people to space, with apparently little or no acceleration. Once you were up there and weightless you had to figure out how to get back. It sounds a bit risky, but then again we DO sign those waivers, right?

Presumably after the puzzle reveal Jeff would have revealed his technique for the betterment of mankind.

He could keep the tech and just show the experience in the reveal. It would be like broadcasting the moon landing, show but not telling. Some of the GM’s might need to sign NDAs if they’re going to experience it for 8 - 24+ hours.

Did it require GM interaction or was it automatic every 12 minutes?

I really liked N1, overall I think it had the best collection of puzzles! I liked that teamwork was a big factor in success. The room decor, props, and costumes were all on-point... Had a bit of an issue hearing the costumed NPCs, but that hardly even registers as a problem...

I think the only disappointment for me is the fact that there won't be any more puzzle-oriented/combat-oriented mods. The group I've always gone with has always preferred puzzle-oriented, and we've never really gotten in to the combat side of things. But I feel like N1 was a pretty good mix of puzzles and combats, so if the formula stays the way it is now, I think it'll work out great. :)

Someone who worked behind the scenes correct me if I'm wrong, but with the exception of the one instance where the NPC's face was unobscured, weren't all the NPC speeches per-recorded and played using a speaker system?

Probably, but too often you have to try and crowd everyone into one corner of the room to hear the recording...which cant be repeated.

Right... the volume was a bit low and we had to crowd around the speaker to hear, but had already missed the first bit of the speeches. Maybe a script can be available for the hard of hearing?

I am not sure if I am going to get to run N1 I canceled my runs at origins to help with volunteering with the assumption all the dungeons are going to be at gameholecon but I may only get to run N2/N3 there oh well. I still expect to have a ton of fun either way.
