In that case, why not reprint and improve the existing tokens? Why choose new slots instead of just improving the existing slots to the appropriate power level?

Those are all pretty color-within-the-lines ideas - what are your better ones :).


I'm pretty sure I've advocated for new Cabal items in the past, but I'm not as in favor of the idea as I used to be. Instead of 1 potential way to get the set bonus, you would now have 120 possible combinations. While that is awesome for making it easier for the individual caster to get the set bonus, it immediately becomes more complex for coordinating a group to agree on which items they'll all wear (assuming party members have access to the older tokens).


There are like 15 existing old cabal sets in existence that can be verified by forumites.

6 choose 3 is 20. There are 20 ways to come up with a set of 3 from 6 options.

In any case the only plausible way a cabal run will ever happen with synergy 3 or more is via prior coordination.

I agree with having more sets in circulation. My group accounts for 3.5 of the sets. My guess is there are less than 25 sets in active use and likely another 10 or so in the hands of collectors who don't play casters very often.

We should keep them simple from a management perspective. I'd stay with the same slots but change the effects. I'm not certain magic resistance even exists anymore so the charm really needs to be revised. I've been getting a lot of use out of the gloves lately (stone to flesh on 2 targets rather than 1 and casting it twice using lenses of sage speed means bringing back 4 party members in a round rather than 1 or 2.)

I mainly use them for the double casting - I've never been able to be in a group with 5 sets but have been in groups with 4 so the set bonuses are a bit difficult to achieve. I'd recommend dropping those down with a re-print to 2 for the +2 and 4 for +3.

Given the new Fighter necklace allowing you to swap to hit for damage why not make a new weapon finesse item?

Boots of Finesse
+4 to hit with melee and ranged attacks

gives Fighters a nice boost, also gives a hit bump to other classes than fighter who may not have the four winds boots and could benefit from some bonus to hit

If monster ACs continue the way they have been lately, I could see some melee Monks and Rangers consider these over Bot4W. Drop the 5 damage for a better chance at having both your hits land? Might be worth it.

+3 probably fits in better with Death Knight boots Mithral boots, and Boots of the north (?) wind

Choose +3 to hit or damage, or 1.5 to both

I'm down with this.

I play a good amount of fighter and find hit roll at a premium, especially in VTD. Some +hit at UR+ would be very appreciated.

Idea from a few years ago, Monk boots with a damage wheel. Monks can slide "kicks" and get back access to their bracer slot.

With the +1 Assassins blade, brawlers horn, and enchanters whetstone combo, is it common for people to use weapon bracers still?
