Their aren’t any rare pants in this set and really people at the rare level don’t have any good options at pants, especially with the +1 con earcuff this year that most would be able to upgrade the blighted pants.

Rare Observations:

+1 Grim Ravager Axe:
Has a lower damage wheel than the 1H Triton Trident. While it has happened in the past, 1H weapons usually don't have higher damage wheels than 2H weapons.

+1 Triton Trident
Has the highest damage wheel of any Rare thrown weapon, and has the highest Rare 1H melee damage wheel. Will qualify for both a set bonus and Enchanter's Whetstone.

Hat of the Humble Servant
The extra lay on hands bonus is very nice. Since its Paladin Only, and Paladin's like to guard, it might be nice to get an AC bonus. With an AC Bonus, it could even be extended to other classes (though they wouldn't get the lay on hands bonus).

IS Jade Cube
Unprecedented Dex bonus in a booster rare. Previously only see in vol Ultra Rare. This may be an issue.

Lenses of Sharpness
Expanded crit range is nice, however Rogues would probably prefer “bypass sneak immunity”. Rare may or may not be the best place for this type of token. “Always bypass sneak immunity “ would make the rare rogue more consistent in damage as they could always count on the extra damage burst from sneak attack, while extra crit range would make the rogue more swingy in damage - sometimes critting on a sneak, and sometimes not being able to sneak or crit at all.

Lyre of Echos
A good option for bards to do other things, but feels like missing the boat (har har) on the pirate theme by not being a Concertina.

Ravager Armor
Essentially powered platemail with less AC and more available classes, thus expanding blanket +1 melee damage in armor which doesn't exist for all classes currently. Would love to see this as +1 2H damage in theme (only benefits big ravager with 2H axe), but the bigger comment is to note the expansion of +1 melee damage to lots of classes.

Red Oaken Bead
Now +Con (fairly similar to ale drinker's bead) and seems to transmute to a +Str bead. The problem is that it's not really intuitive in the transmute and similar to last year's token.

Ring of Jealous Protection
Previous Jealous item (ring of Jealous Fervor) has a different effect (can only be worn with common, uncommon, and rare rings).

Perhaps try to template with same ability for consistency?

Scriber's Spectacles
Limited only to wizards. I know a scroll damage Bard that would love to have an extra option, but don't really have a complaint if you want to keep it restricted to Wizards.

As much as I would dearly love this, it would be a viable contender for BiS in pretty much every Rogue build so would need to be at least UR to grant such a powerful ability (and probably annoy Rogue players since it would duplicate some of the main utility of the class neck item without being completely replaced by it). At rare, I think the current token is a nice option to have and I'm happy with it. I completely agree with your main point though, Normal/Hardcore Rogues would benefit a lot from a Rare item which grants an additional Sneak Attack. It would probably need to be 1/game since even that was last seen on an UR feet slot token (which doesn't seem overly powerful for UR and was in a different slot so isn't a great comparison).

I don't really have much to add on the 2022 rares at this point, I like this set of rares and could see many of them being a good fit in rare builds.

Doppleganger seems to be a typo for Doppelganger.
I play Rogue. Occasionally I even play Rogue well.

To be honest, Bead of Binding feels pretty meh in my opinion.

Ah, I was likely not clear. I’m suggesting that “bypass sneak attack immunity” would likely be more popular than critical range 19-20, as mentioned several posts above my own. I’m not sure if a blanket “bypass sneak immunity” rare is too good given it would not bypass critical immunity - that would be for someone else to decide.

I'm trying to figure out exactly which slot Bard instruments occupy. Are they in Melee Mainhand, Ranged Mainhand, or both?

The UR Widseth's Lute gives some guidance for how it interacts with other melee off-hand items like Orb of MIght and Brawler's Mug:
tokendb.com/token/widseths-mystical-lute/

And it would seem Fae Blowgun Flute is clearly a Ranged instrument.

But, how does this interact with more general Bard instruments like the Uncommon Conch this year? Which "Mainhand Slot" do they take? And does that slot preclude Bards from equipping both an instrument and a Captain's Cup?

My understanding is Bard instruments go in the Bard Instruments slot, like how Holy Symbols go in the Holy Symbol slot. Though you can have multiple instruments you can only use one at a time.

Sort of neither.

They occupy both hands, but you're not in "ranged mode" or "melee mode" when using them.

Some of them have abilities that let you make melee and/or ranged attacks, in some cases by granting "extra hands" (e.g. Widseth's variants) and in other cases by being an instrument and a weapon at the same time (+1 Blowgun Flute).

From Widseth's Mystical Lute in TDb:

"Erratum: The original printing of this token was missing the black hand icons at the bottom. Like all bardsong instruments, it requires two hands to use."

But you can bring all your instruments and switch between them with a free action.

The +1 Blunderbuss is probably superior when a player equips Enchanted Whetstone.

This seems okay since the Boomstick is a 9 year old token. I just thought it was worth pointing out.

The "misfire chance" here is also misleading, at least the way I use a Boom Stick. I've played with a +2 Boom Stick for a couple years, and I would probably misfire *less* with a +1 Blunderbuss. I have a decent idea how to rotate the puck, but I tend to be greedy with the Boom Stick and usually aim right for the 25, meaning a slight overtwist leads to a misfire. The Blunderbuss has no real incentive to aim for any specific number, so I'd probably aim it dead between the 11's and have to miss by a *lot* more than I usually do before I misfired.

Then again, I probably have a much higher average damage roll on the Boom Stick, since I basically never get the 4 or first 6.

Ah, got it. It's a bit of a tricky one, my feedback last year was that the new rare Rogue necklace, Amulet of Flawsight, would never see play due to being significantly underpowered compared to other rare necklaces. I still think that's the case. But it sets a precedent of a rare token only granting the guided strike ability once per game. From last year, if I remember correctly Jeff also clarified that it was very rare to ever separate out Sneak immunity and Crit immunity. I think the easiest way to solve this, if TPTB agree that a solve is needed, would be to make it a class-specific UR in an easier slot like charm, ioun, ring or even slotless with some small penalty on it.

I, too, would love to see something in Not-The-Bracers slot which could let Rogues ignore Sneak Attack Immunities. I'm sure every Rogue who invested in Bracers of Guided Strike would really like to see that, so they can think seriously about those sweet transmuted Charm bracelets. But as lross point out:

So, yeah... basically if we're looking to make a token which helps out the Rogue on that front, we're looking at an UR token. Personally, I'd *love* to see something like a Domino Mask (Eye slot? Or are masks Head slot?) which gives lets Rogues (and/or other classes) ignore Sneak Attack/ Critical immunities. The big melee classes would be unlikely to wear it, because it'd conflict with helms... but for Rogues it'd hit the sweet spot. (For Rogues who don't want to give up their Hood of Shadows, the Bracers are still a viable option.)

But all of that is UR level stuff. I think these Lenses of Sharpness are a pretty solid Rare level token, even if they're not what the best dressed Rogues want.

R level ignoring sneak immunities (while not touching crit immunity) is perfectly in line with that power curve.

You might have an argument there if crit immunity and sneak attack immunity weren't the same thing. Sorry way OP for a rare even before you talk about crit ranges. The neck as is, is already an amazing rare.

I would love to get my wrist slot back too but in a Cranston's hat world these lenses would be to much at rare.
