There will be no drop offs or pick ups
please have your transmutes organized
labeled
bagged
tagged
and paper work filled out
before coming in
There should be tables outside to do all this. It will help everything flow faster/better and allow more transmutes to be done

remember no trade items or reserve bars will be done at this con(unless you are from outside USA)

thanks in advance

Sorry if I missed it elsewhere and since it's been a couple years since the last GENCON, do you know the times when Transmuting will be available yet? Thanks

I've never transmuted at Gen Con. Will there be forms to fill out there or do I have to go through TD web site? Someone please explain so I don't mess this up. Thanks!

You do NOT use the token exchange program on the website to do in-person transmuting. Instead, you print the transmuting form and fill it out. Or, you can pick up a form outside the transmute room and fill it out on-site. But, if you know what you are making, you might as well just fill it out in advance. Here's a link to the thread where Druegar posts the most recent transmute form.

Please note, unless you are from outside the USA. you can’t make trade goods at Gen Con. You can make the 3 star, 4 star, relic and legendary transmutes, but not, say, Mystic Silk. If you really need a Mystic Silk to make your desired item, you might be able to work out a deal for someone to trade you for it at Gen Con. At most other cons, you can make trade goods as well as transmuted tokens (as long as the con has a transmute room).

Thank you so much! I'm making Ioun Stone Elfstone Shard and Master Ale Drinker's Bead. Nothing major, but it makes me happy.

Those are two great transmutes! Congrats on being able to make them at Gen Con. I’d recommend printing and filling out the form (and token labels) in advance so you’re all set once you get to the transmute room.

Just printed out the form, the first 7 pages of it. The rest is probably not necessary unless I'm transmuting legendaries.

Just noticed you're a fellow Chicagoan, that's cool!

Just to make sure I understand, this means that if I have 25 scrolls, I CANNOT exchange those for an Alchemist Parchment, but if I ALREADY have all my trade items (like Darkwood Planks, Dwarven Steel, etc), I could transmute them into things like Amulet of Noble Might. Is that correct?

I've only done transmutes via mail or at Who's Yer Con before, so I'm not sure how it works at Gen Con.

Exactly. Gen Con has different transmuting rules due to the sheer volume. At most other cons, you could turn your 25 units of scrolls into Alchemist's Parchment, and then submit a new transmute request to turn that Alchemist's Parchment and other ingredients into whatever transmuted token you wanted to create. If you have all the ingredients for a transmuted token (3 star, 4 star, relic, legendary, Eldritch), then you're fine.

If you're short 1 AP for the token you want to make, and aren't from outside the USA (foreign folks are allowed to do trade good transmutes at Gen Con), don't despair. A player might be willing to do a trade for you outside the official system. For example, there was a year I wanted to make a legendary at Gen Con, but I only had 25 1k bars, not a 25k bar, and didn't have time to mail the GP in to TD before the con. I posted a request on the forums and another player kindly helped me out by trading me for the 25k bar I needed. There are a fair amount of folks who'd be willing to make an "ingredients for trade goods" trade if it helped someone looking to do a transmute at Gen Con.

At Gen Con, the big traders tend to hang out inside the storyscape. But if you don't see any there, check areas close to the TD entrance.

BeLinda Mathie, please enjoy a brownie for your sage advice in this thread.

Here's a direct link to the order form you need to fill out. PLEEEEEEASE have it filled out and all your bags tagged and organized before coming to Gen Con. Or at the very least, before entering the transmuting room. It's a small room and there isn't much space to organize all of one's 💩.

Note 1: Don't let the fact that the order form includes Trade & Reserve items throw you. Unless you live outside the USA, you cannot make Trade & Reserve items at Gen Con. If the token you want has a "chocolate" or "peanut butter" back, you cannot make it at Gen Con. Exchanges at Gen Con are restricted to Blue , Green , Maroon , and Orange backs only.

Note 2: Neither Auri's Candle nor Pirate's Treasure Map can be transmuted at Gen Con. Trying to be sly by writing them in manually will not work. You can redeem Pirate's Treasure Maps at the treasure generators, but you cannot create them in transmuting. There are no plans to have a treasure generator in the transmuting room.
