Exactly. Gen Con has different transmuting rules due to the sheer volume. At most other cons, you could turn your 25 units of scrolls into Alchemist's Parchment, and then submit a new transmute request to turn that Alchemist's Parchment and other ingredients into whatever transmuted token you wanted to create. If you have all the ingredients for a transmuted token (3 star, 4 star, relic, legendary, Eldritch), then you're fine.

If you're short 1 AP for the token you want to make, and aren't from outside the USA (foreign folks are allowed to do trade good transmutes at Gen Con), don't despair. A player might be willing to do a trade for you outside the official system. For example, there was a year I wanted to make a legendary at Gen Con, but I only had 25 1k bars, not a 25k bar, and didn't have time to mail the GP in to TD before the con. I posted a request on the forums and another player kindly helped me out by trading me for the 25k bar I needed. There are a fair amount of folks who'd be willing to make an "ingredients for trade goods" trade if it helped someone looking to do a transmute at Gen Con.


my plan is to get there on sunday before the con starts. i can transmute for trade items and gp reserve bars. if anyone is interested please send me a pm with what you are looking for. i will also have some trade goods and gold and other items for sale. when i get checked into my room at the crown plaza downtown i'll post my room number. :)

One question and one comment.

Comment: It looks like Widseth's Legendary Lute is not in the Order Form section.

Question: How much "editing" is acceptable on this form? That is, for those of us with the correct software and skills, is it acceptable to remove non-relevant rows from the order form and rearrange the recipe tables to only include the items in our order?

Example: Alice only wants to transmute Enhanced and Exalted tokens at Gen Con. Alice deletes the rows for Relics and Legendaries from the order form. Then she deletes the recipe tables for Relics and Legendaries. Finally, Alice moves all the remaining recipes onto one sheet.

Is that acceptable?

It's there now. Look for a "Updated Jul. 20, 2022" under the Pick Up Time on page 2. If you see an earlier date, clear your cache and re-download the file. Thank you for the heads-up!

We'd prefer it if people didn't edit the order form in any way. But remember, you don't need to print out the irrelevant pages. Most printer drivers give you the ability to print specific pages only. Check in your printer's settings because they all handle it a little differently.

So when it comes to bagging for bigger relic transmutes, how should that be handled?

For Greater Ring of Havoc for instance, If I put it all in one gallon ziplock that's 128 tokens minimum, which feels... too much.

Should I instead break it down into per-ingredient-snack-bags and put those in one bigger bag?

This will be my first time transmuting such a large token, and I haven't seen anything about how to handle these large lads on the site pages (though I could easily just be blind and be missing it).

For big transmutes, I have used several of the snack bags, then placed them in a quart bag. No one complained so I guess that is right.

I am transmuting a Surtur’s at Gen Con and it barely fits in a quart bag.
Tenth level achieved! Now for the long journey to 11th level!

You can just plop down a single big bag of dozens of tokens, but organizing them some will get you in and out of the transmuting room a lot quicker. Here's what I would recommend, but this is by no means the only viable solution:
Neatly stack the ingredient tokens, all facing the same direction, as many as can fit in a small bag withing causing the bag to split. This method usually accommodates more than one Trade token type per bag, but as long as each block of Trade items are all stacked right next to each other, it makes for a speedy verification process. E.g., maybe in your first bag you put Alchemist's Ink, Alchemist's Parchment, and Aragonite. The second bag might contain Darkwood Plank and Dwarven Steel. You get the idea. Putting the tokens in the same order they're listed on the checklist makes verification even faster.
Pretend this "beautiful work of art" is a snack-size zipper bag 
as viewed from the side. The "I" characters at the bottom 
represent tokens neatly stacked right next to each other 
and the equal signs are the zipper.

2-4 of these could be put in a larger bag and keep everything neat and tidy. You can get around 30 or 40 (it varies by bag size) into a baggie without over-stressing the bag. (Snug is good, stretching is not recommended.) Thus, you could probably get all your ingredients in 3-4 small bags which you would then put in a larger bag. This method may be the best compromise of verification expediency vs. low plastic use.

What Druegar described is basically what I usually do. I put the relic/UR/trade goods/GP in recipe order in 2-4 snack size bags, and then put those in a quart size bag. Using 10x chips where possible streamlines things quite a bit, but if you have all loose trade goods, it just adds a bag or two. (If I happen to have a shrink-wrapped 20-stack of a trade good that is needed in 20+ quantity, I leave the shrink wrap on it for ease of counting.).

Note: Every now and then the tokens don’t divide nicely into snack size bags in recipe order, so sometimes I put all the DP or MS in one snack size bag, even if it is out of recipe order. I hope that the transmuter will get that the bag skips from AP to DS because there’s one separate bag with all 25 DP in it.

Assuming non- stretching of bags, little physical damage, those snack pack baggies can be re-used for your next transmute also!

Reduce, and reuse!*

* please note, there is a goblin who has been known to consume baggies, empty as they are, without regard for their future intent. For safety, place the new token into a nesting doll of plastic baggies to prevent said goblin from chewing your reusing bags before leaving the transmute area. We don’t know where he will be, or if he will be present, though he has been known to strike in the wild, with little to no warnings.

i'll be transmuting for trade items and reserve bars and fleeces. i'll be arriving next sunday afternoon. i already have a couple of folks dropping by sunday evening and a couple more shooting for monday. i will also have "stuff" for sale.

just checked into the crown plaza, downtown indy. i am in room 288for the folks that want to do some trading/buying/selling/transmuting. i am doing trade items, fleece and reserve bars. so just stop by...let me grab some burgers first. i'll be in the room by 7pm (6:15 now)
