Exactly this. When that call for token ideas came out, I had been mulling over ideas for how to incorporate another +5 2H damage item into the game for variety. I didn’t come up with anything good, so I didn’t suggest anything. The first version of this token filled in the blank and I like it.

After much analysis and number crunching, I have produced the following graph on why we should keep the Troll Shield at +3 / +3 for underperforming Fighters : p

Turned into adventurer jerky by Smoak in 2010
Proudly part of first group to survive Felurian's Feast at GHC 2021

Yeah, the issue with the numbers on the wings was the double hitters.

+2 damage, fighters, barb, paladin only seem fine.

That's beyond even a Legendary Token! I was going to say limit it to 2 extra Beads but honestly I'd just like it scrapped. The last few years we've seen WAY too many slot expanders. Slot expanders are overpowered and not really fun at all. There's no theme to tie to them, no cool ability. Please scrap!


It's not reasonable to count the most powerful tokens that could go into a slot expander as how much they increase power.

You should list out the 6 beads someone will equip, and the power the belt adds is the power of the least desirable 3.

In spite of that, I agree that +2 beads is fine for this.

I'm looking at Shield compared to other Shields. And it's on par with a Relic. If you wanted to look at other Tokens (which I don't think you should) you could also say the Troll Shield is +3 AC, + another Volunteer UR (Onyx Cube), + a Rare Volunteer (Onyx Sphere) which...is too good.

For what it’s worth, I think if you want to compare to other tokens for the shield, choosing the weakest possible slot doesn’t seem like a fair comparison. There are way easier items that give +1 strength than volunteer Ioun Stones. For example, I could say the current Troll Shield is a rare shield (+3 AC) plus half of a regular Ultra Rare (Stu-Pendous Amulet) : p

Pleade consider moving the healing gloves to another slot. Maybe switching their lower with the boots. There are still a pair of UR healing gloves available as pyps this year.

When you prevent rangers and monks from going nuts, you prevent fighters from advancing.

I’m all for a 2H token boost of some sort.

But wings looks like a must have in the arsenal. The saves puts it on par with several existing back items.

Yes, Human Fighter and Paladin are stuck between a rock and a hard place here.

2H items will always favor Barbarian. 1 hand damage modifier items will favor Monk and Ranger - especially in this case when both Monk and Ranger have better native saves than Human Fighter and can more afford to drop a back saves item for more damage.

The only slot that Human Fighter and Paladin can make some ground up on is melee offhand, but brawlers horn and brawlers mug can only do so much work to close gaps (especially when brawlers horn is usable by both Monk and Ranger).
