Charms = Potions of Polymorph so yes...Rangers can use the Charm to slide with Ralson's.

At the cost of a charm slot though? In which case is this really any different than Charm of Shadow Shot? We will have to see what the new damage on the form is, but this is could end up being a push.

This has an impact on the Ranger Legendary and also Iktomi’s. With that said, I can see with VTD the desire to move away from consumables.

It would be nice to know what the road map in for this conversation. For example is the plan for a newer Druid to have 3 to 4 of their charm slots filled up with form tokens?

+1 Mystic Staff of the Serpent should be moved to be the second token in the graphic (between +1 Heavy Axe & +1 Oasis Long Bow).

And shame on me for not suggesting this idea when Druegar asked months ago, but it'd be really cool to have hand-wraps as a monk weapon. My first D&D character was a monk with wraps and shurikens, and it'd be amazing to run it in TD. Wraps seem like they could be thematic this year...

The time for my trip has been shifted to later in the day, so I have some time to address the Charm of Trollform. The fine folks at TD HQ came up with a new concept we wish to share.

PLEASE understand that Rangers with a cool Necklace and a Druid Summoner will NOT have their Polymorph Potion functions reduced with this change. Since they will no longer have to turn in the token, it should work out better for them. And they can still use Poly Potions, too.

Due to VTD and concerns regarding the upcoming class re-design, we are creating a new slotless type of token called Trinkets that are only usable by Druids.

Beginning with the 2024 token set, Polymorph Potions are being phased out. They're being replaced by Trinkets.

With a Trinket the Druid can transform into that form as an Instant Action. The polymorphed character may perform a melee attack during the same round the transformation occurred.

Trinkets are permanent items that can be activated once per game. Once activated, the user can maintain their polymorphed form until the end of the room or until they choose to end it--whichever comes first.

Even within the same room, a Trinket may only be used once per game. If for some reason you choose to end the polymorph early, you may not transform back into that creature.

Any past token or ability that required polymorph potions can also use Trinkets. For example:
  • A Ranger wearing Ralson's Pendant of the Elder Yew can use a Trinket token as their Animal friend. Using a Trinket as an Animal Friend counts as the trinket's 1/game use.
  • A Druid Summoner using a Trinket an a summoned animal counts as the trinket's 1/game use.
  • A Druid wearing Iktomi's Shaper Necklace can use a Trinket as many times as they want throughout the game.

Per current Polymorph rules, one cannot cast Spells or use items while in polymorph form without magical aid (this may change for Druids in the coming class re-design). Tokens that previously allowed spellcasting, talking, or other polymorph benefits will work just fine with trinkets.

For the purpose of Trade item conversions, Trinkets are considered weapons. E.g., a Rare Trinket counts as 1 unit toward Aragonite.

I think a monk only hand weapon at rare would be cool. Maybe with a bonus for having the same in each hand. My rare monk with assassin daggers seems a little off thematically.

Thanks for the update Jeff!

Moving poly to trinkets works as it wasn't using a slot in the previous version anyway.

In a previous post you had mentioned you had lowered the damage wheel on the Trolform. Did you intend to do so now that its a trinket? The shown token is at the 9.33 average damage on the wheel.

Final question / observation. My (perhaps wrong) understanding was that poly potions had a large damage wheel due to the fact that you potentially lost a turn drinking the potion and for sure lost the potion as a consumable. Now that poly will be an instant action, should the damage wheels be more in line with other rare weapons?

This seems like a good change. Any chance we can generalize this to each class for whatever future class thing they might get? Eg. Clerics have holy symbols, druids have poly stuff, bards have instruments, etc.

If I follow, you're suggesting that holy symbols would occupy the trinket slot and all holy symbols would be single class cleric? Rogue tools would occupy the trinket slot and all be single class rogue?

Sounds like a good way and good time to wrap a number of these single class slotless tokens into a slot.

Thank you for all of the clarifications, and the change out of Charm Slot.

Under current rules, a player can bring multiple throwing hammers and use as many as combat rounds allow.

Will Trinkets be limited to one of each named Trinket per adventure? Can a Druid bring 4 Trinket of Trollform tokens and use one per combat?

I could see how the rules already cover this, but thrown weapons operate differently. And since the Trinket is a pseudo-weapon, I thought it'd be nice to get clarification.

Thank you for the clarity on how this will all work. I think this is a positive direction for the game and I am happy that Iktomi's continues to offer a unique ability when it comes to these trinkets.

Any chance with the new trinkets that we can have more than one shape in a room? For example it would be very nice to be able to change from a fire elemental to an air elemental if we find out that the creature has fire resistance. Even if this change was limited to once per round it would be a big improvement.

Thanks, Jeff! Thanks for having tokens that interact with Polymorph tokens interact with these also. Thanks also for making them Druid-only, that will help give the class some identity.

Is there a maximum number of Trinkets a Druid can equip, or are they slotless and a Druid can carry as many as he/she has?

I do miss the healing ability of Trollform, it's a bit more boring just being a damage wheel.

This scenario could open an exploit to allow polymorph casting without the Relic or Legendary. Sequence:
- Start round polymorphed
- Standard Action: Attack
- Instant Action: De-polymorph
- Free action: Spell cast (choose your favorite method)
- Instant action: Re-Polymorph
