So Wizards won’t be getting polymorphism support any longer?

I wanna say I support if they don't and would be cool to see them get a spell book mechanic or something in the redesign

It opens up elf wizard to go a completely different direction. Will be interesting to see where they take the class. I would expect it to be something sufficiently different from human wizard to justify the second class card.

I’d be happy too if wizards get some differentiation.

But polymorph has been a part of the Wizard class since polymorph was invented in 2009 - 14 years ago.

Human Wizards differentiation is wands, which have been discontinued (but not before selling wizards two wand supporting UltraRares).

Elf wizards differentiation is the alertness spell, and polymorph bonuses. Under the last character redesign alertness was to be removed. Now polymorph is to be removed as well (or maybe already has been?).

the prospect of having BOTH elf Wizard and Wizard cards in circulation with deprecated mechanics is either sad or darkly humorous depending on your persepctive.

2021: MEC nerfed
2022: Wands deprecated
2023: Wizards removed from Polymorph (proposed)
2024: Elf Wizard loses Alertness (proposed)

I’d like to know what wizards are getting to replace polymorph before they lose yet another class ability.

I'd also like to know what TD's game plan is for Wizards before I buy any more Wizard gear - for example, I'm not keen on investing in ranged to-damage and mystic staves at this point.

If I follow, you're suggesting that holy symbols would occupy the trinket slot and all holy symbols would be single class cleric? Rogue tools would occupy the trinket slot and all be single class rogue?

Sounds like a good way and good time to wrap a number of these single class slotless tokens into a slot.

I like this idea! Thanks for the suggestion. Help us remember it when it comes time to fill out the tokendb.com in a month or so.

Slotting trinkets will have some potential side effects with existing tokens. Ex, Rogue has a lot more available trinkets than a cleric given Ektar's, Masterwork Thieves Tools, Rod of Persuasion, etc.

If you were open to different number of trinket slots per class, the new Rogue class card could have the special power "can equip 3 trinkets" or whatever to accommodate that.

Next question is how many trinket slots does a player have?

Please make it uniform across all classes.

dokkaebi wrote: Thank you for all of the clarifications, and the change out of Charm Slot.

Under current rules, a player can bring multiple throwing hammers and use as many as combat rounds allow.

Will Trinkets be limited to one of each named Trinket per adventure? Can a Druid bring 4 Trinket of Trollform tokens and use one per combat?

I could see how the rules already cover this, but thrown weapons operate differently. And since the Trinket is a pseudo-weapon, I thought it'd be nice to get clarification.

There's no slot so you can bring as many as you wish.

Due to VTD and concerns regarding the upcoming class re-design, we are creating a new slotless type of token called Trinkets that are only usable by Druids.

Just to be clear, this means that all Wizards are losing their Polymorph access starting in 2024?

Will this retroactively apply to existing Polymorph potions that include Wizards in the allowed classes?

Will existing polymorph potions be treated as Trinkets (in terms of not being consumed, not in terms of their trade good value)?

All this will be worked out once we get TD Community feedback.

Ho-Yi Fung wrote: If Polymorph trinkets are slotless and not turned in, should their damage wheel be brought back in line with other Rare weapons? I had assumed the higher numbers were due to the cost of turning in the token or the Charm slot. Once a seven (or, more realistically, four) trinkets are printed, why would a Druid want to attack with a standard weapon?

Previously, both types of Wizards could also use Polymorph potions. Is their exclusion from Polymorph trinkets intentional (and a preview of the upcoming class redesign)?

With Polymorph potions being phased out, is there concern that there will be fewer AI tokens (and more AG/EB)?

All these questions will be ironed out in the class redesign, but the general idea is that only Druids can shape-shift after 2023. Not sure of all the other details, as the redesign period will define all. The Potion of Polymorph was replaced by a more useful Potion type -- so it is better for all.

The general idea floating around my head is to make the Elf Wizard much different than the Wizard -- more combat oriented.

These tokens will be out in 2024.

The class redesign is happening in 2023. No worries.

There is already a divergent starting with the current proposed 2024 UC tokens between wizard and elf wizard.
