If I could get lucky, I would do it in a heartbeat. Worth every dollar just for the housing.

Mike Steele wrote: Wow, this seems almost cruel by GENCON! I just entered the housing portal at my allotted time, expecting to be able to reserve a room, and I got put into a waiting line of almost 1000 people and over an hour. So much for an Embassy Suites room!

Even the VIG signups had a queue. When I logged in at exactly the time VIGs could sign up, I was put in a queue. By the time it was my turn, all of the suites were gone at the hotel I wanted, granted only a few exist there, so I had to get just the king size room.

I'm definitely not complaining because I got the connected hotel I wanted, but I love the suites because I can spread out, have people over to trade tokens or talk about TD, etc. I also end up bringing back a ton more than I came with, so I need as much room as I can get hehe.

My time was 12:59, I spent 3-4 minutes in the secondary queue, and I barely got a king room at a connected hotel. I would pay for VIG in a second if I were ever lucky enough to be picked.

Yeah, VIG isn't everyone's cup of tea, but for some it's worth it and it's big time worth it for me. I like the lounge too. I've never done any other VIG events except for the behind the scenes tour once, which was cool to see at least once.

I got a VIG badge once. That was back in 2012 when you could still occasionally grab one when general badges went on sale. Didn't get it the next year and now I never shall again.

My time was 12:36, and I spent about 20 minutes in the queue. There were still king rooms in most hotels when I got in, but I failed to get a two-bed room in a connected hotel. At least I managed to find one downtown, just a few blocks away. It's my first time in a long time sharing a room instead of having my own, and I hadn't realized how much faster the two-bed rooms disappear than the one-bed rooms.
