This thread is filled with good and bad, I was early and continue with, please just stop.

While I am here though, for Brad and those like him, I hope people get the vaccine so herd immunity can protect those that cannot get the vaccine, and we are delta free.

Certainly the more people that can get the vaccine do get the vaccine will help protect those who cannot get the vaccine.

It would create a lot of problems if they decided to require vaccinations after having sold badges. Vendors may have committed to attending because of that stipulation, as well as attendees. It is easier to maintain a mask requirement because they can just simply look at attendees versus asking them to provide proof.

My wife and I are on the list to get our first dose, probably middle of next month. But even after we get both, we have both decided to not drop our Covid precautions. We will still wear masks, avoid any crowds, not dine in restaurants, not go to any gatherings, or shop in large stores. We stay home, get curbside takeout, but online and shop at the little local farm market. We realized we don't miss sports, movies, concerts, malls or any of those type things. I do miss conventions, but with the devastation in Brazil passing 600K deaths and 2K daily deaths during their winter season, we are willing to stay on social lockdown until January 1 and see how Fall and Winter goes in the US.

Already discussed in this thread. To quote a poster from last page:

The trials for kids under 12 won't be done until late August, early September, so that guidance is pretty much standard. A lot of people that have been griping about the WHO probably won't care either way since they didn't follow their guidance in the last year. I am pretty sure the main reason GHC is requiring masks is because kids under 12 can't get vaccinated yet.

The vaccines haven't been tested or approved for children yet, so they should follow health official's recommendations and not get it. In countries that haven't vaccinated their most vulnerable adults yet they should focus on that. I don't see that as controversial at all. Are people advocating that kids be required to get the vaccine before it's fully rested for them?

Nope. This is pretty clearly a non-issue.

Many places requiring vaccines simply allow people to self-attest when they buy their tickets/badges/whatever. And "proof could be as simple as showing a digital record or a fax card. Hardly problematic.

The vaccines are currently being tested for children. The testing isn't complete yet.

I read that some clinical trials are giving children portions of the vaccines, like half, to test their effectiveneness.

It's awful that it's going to be over another year before I get to do in-person TD again. I know there are lots of people in that position. :(

My point is that the attendees that bought badges with the idea that they would only need to be wearing a mask would then have the rules changed. People would protest. Have you seen the way people are responding to places asking for proof of vaccination? Yeah, you just need to show a card or digital proof, but I believe they could lose vendors/exhibitors and they'd have a small group of people raising a very large stink if the rules were changed.

I do get that - some people made decisions based on the policies as they currently stand. I know that GC is still considering different options as condition change. They could still decide to require vaccines for attendees (I think they should), they could drop mask requirements, etc.

No matter what they decide there will be people who are upset about it. No matter what they decide, I will be there.
