Let's talk Loki - Spoilers 2 years 9 months ago #109

Thor wove a braid of Loki's hair into his own before Age of Ultron and had a stylized version of Loki's helmet on his gauntlets so I would say he very much mourned him. Thor being 1,500 years old means the past the 12 years between being cast out of Asgard and Endgame was a really bad summer for him.

Thog was a nice touch, but Thanos copter is where it's at.

So if memory serves me correctly Alioth serves as the Guardian to Chronopolis/Castle Limbo. While it would be cool to have Kang revealed, it is possible that it will be one of the earlier incarnations like Pharaoh Rama-Tut or the Scarlet Centurion. There was a Sphinx and pyramids in the background in one scene. Or better yet, Kang can show up to eliminate one of his earlier versions as a ..... Variant

\My 2 cents

I thought it and Kang were actually rivals, in the comics.

Yeah, Alioth ruled time up until around 2000 BC in the comics. (It's also actually the brightest star in Ursa Major.)

Maybe spoilers? Who knows. Mad speculations - save until after episode 6.
Though there is all this talk of Majors showing up as Kang, it seems bad form at this point in the story to shove a new actor into the mix. I think the ultimate conclusion of this show will see the TVA cease to function at least in part, allowing new timelines to form and Kang will come to exist in all of his forms (as well as all the Spider-verse alternate Peter Parkers, etc.).

The Big Bad could be one of the Lokis we've seen so far, or rather a variation of a variation. But I actually hope that isn't the case. I think the Big Bad is going to dangle a carrot in front of Hiddle-Loki. The payoff of all the character development through this show should be him refusing the carrot because it is the right thing to do, not because it's coming from another Loki and he knows it's a trap. It also would make this show a semi-rehash of the old Prisoner TV series.

I think Miss Minutes is another control mechanism like the Timekeepers. She may run the systems of the TVA and allow everything to function but she didn't just create herself. I think she is tied to the orange energy coming from the castle, like that's where the TVA actually resides - miniaturized at the top of that tower.

Ravona is a strong candidate for either being the Terminatrix or Revelation (variations of her in the comics) and either has been controlling things all along or the one we have seen is a variant of the 'real' one in the castle.

Mobius is a wildcard. We've had hints that there is something funny with him like how there seem to be other versions of himself wandering around that Ravona has meetings with in her office. But he doesn't see them so either it happened long in the past or it's being hidden from him. What if the drink rings were there before Ravona was judge? My main suspicion (for the last half of this series even) is that Mobius is a variant of either Immortus or He-Who-Remains. It would give Loki real pause to be betrayed by his friend (though maybe not truly) and any carrot offered might have to be taken as truth unlike coming from a Loki. It also fits the comic history and location. Immortus and HWR both have a history of pruning off nexus beings and variance events so all of the Kang Easter eggs could just be pruned like all of the Lokis. The Kangs might have been reset rather than pruned like the Lokis and still be in the TVA.

The real question is what will happen to Loki and the universe when the show ends. Will the existing TVA be destroyed, or will Loki perhaps convince HWR that having choice and variations are better than a static single universe. Then HWR restarts the universe and we find that the Loki universe we were watching is the precursor to the existing Marvel universe and everything plays out the same but now there are many universes and timelines and the TVA just tries to keep them from fighting with each other. And the show ends with Loki sitting up in the Gobi desert again with the cube and wearing his TVA-issue suit going 'Huh?'

Or not.

Just to be clear the TVA is only concerned with a single 'sacred' timeline not a single universe, at least according to the first episode. The timelines fought not the universes. I think the multiverse already exist for Marvel. At least that is the only way that makes sense to me. Why take a variant, if you would just blow up their entire universe?

My understanding from how I've heard it used in the past is that a timeline is the sequence of all events through time in a single universe. An alternate universe would have an alternate timeline. They seem to be using the terms the same here.
A variant creates a variant universe that they immediately prune before the variant universe an split off entirely. Mumble mumble quantum foam mumble mumble expanding bubble universe mumble mumble comic books.
To my understanding, the idea is that there should be a multiverse with many universes but it's being kept artificially to just one by the TVA the whole time. The explanations in the movies (infinity stones prevent branch timelines!) turned out to be false and a misunderstanding by the Ancient One or whoever.
BUT they have been super unclear about their precise meanings so one or the other or both of us could be wrong at this point. I hope the finale makes it clearer.

I thought Jonathan Majors was amazing and I look forward to seeing him further in the MCU.

I was actually underwhelmed by this season's finale. The Loki(s) fight wasn't bad.

I do think that the Loki(s) fight was probably the best fight sequence in the last several episodes. It actually had a bit of suspense vs with they are fighting no-name nobodies. Still I really enjoyed Majors performance and that made the episode for me.
