This is the same grid as the puzzle in V9B. What if the letters that we saw were = to the rune that matches it. Also supported by the fact you found those runes in that room. Anyone got a picture of the puzzle or no?

I thought of that at the time, but the grid was 6x6 and some rows had 2 letters while some had 4, so couldn't think of a good way to match it to the floor

i just noticed the "magic square" on my laptop. it would break down into a 4x4 grid, each with a 6x6 part internal grid. that being said, the highlighted part is all 4 parts of the 2nd grid and 2 parts of the 3rd grid. it also has the first 2 parts of the 6th grid and the 1st part of the 7th grid.

did i get that explained well?

My brain short circuited a bit reading that. Can you do it visually with maybe different colored boxes or something? I work a lot better with visuals

Guess: the whole thing is an 8x8 magic square. The 9 runes from the run are a 3x3 magic square so must be 1-9.
I'm not sure that would be enough to force a unique result though. Even if it is that would still only provide a decryption key and I don't recall a rune encrypted message yet.

the whole thing can be broke down to 4 squares wide and 4 squares high.
each one of those squares has 4 "runes" in it.
each "rune" can be broke down to 6 spaces high and 6 spaces wide.

all of that matches to how a pattern of a magic square is done.

So, without much else to go on at the moment, I think I'm going to just compile a bit of my information exploration adventure here. I'll include a shortened 'what I know so far' at the bottom.

The first thing that struck me here was the name and account. This was clearly some sort of Meta/ARG puzzle for us TD fans as it came from a unique sounding name and an account with only 1 post ever, that being this one. A quick google search later and I find... a band, some guy in Hong Kong's LinkedIn, and a few other irrelevant things before noticing a TD Forum post from 15 some-odd years ago which included a comment from Jeff about how stories like the legendary "Hammer of Foss Atlus" have a way of making themselves real. Digging through the forums a bit more, I've found that there was an adventure for TD Celebration in 2008 Beneath Castle Atlus, wherein a player was given the opportunity to wield the Hammer of Foss Atlus. The info I can find on these puzzles don't seem to provide much more information that might help to solve this particular challenge, though. It seems there may have also been a puzzle of some sort regarding Foss Atlus some time between 2006 and 2008, which was solved by a user named Henwy. It seems that this user hasn't posted in over a year now.

When I try searching for the other name we have, Torbjörn Døsånen, I find... this thread and a bunch of stuff about the Overwatch character Torbjorn, and the fact that the name Torbjorn roughly translates to "Thunder Bear" or "Thor Bear".

Looking at the amulet itself shows 64 unique characters arranged 8x8. When I think of things arranged in sets of 8 and in powers of 2, I think of Binary and Computer Programming. It's possible that the text on the amulet can be translated into Binary, but it'd take a closer examination than I can do right now. I'll take another look when I'm home from work and see if there's anything worthwhile there.

What I Know:
- Foss Atlus, the Original Poster, is a reference to the Hammer of Foss Atlus.
- The Hammer of Foss Atlus was also used in a 2008 TD Celebration Event traveling beneath Castle Atlus. I don't see any connection the information I can find on the Castle Atlus puzzles and the amulet here, but perhaps this might jog a long-term player's memory of something I am unaware of?
- The other name we have, Torbjörn Døsånen, yields nothing relevant from TD History which can be found on the forums.
- The puzzle forms an 8x8 grid, giving a total of 64 unique, non-repeating characters.

Good sleuthing! To fill in some details, we got to wield the Hammer of Foss Altus at True Dungeon Celebration in 2017, too. It’s a weapon token that says “Soulforged to Jeff Martin” on it. So the assumption is that Jeff started this thread. I suspect we will get more clues in the next virtual adventure.

Beertram pointed this out to me, so I want to make sure he gets credit, but if you take my joking answer of what the symbols are (a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and 2 punctuation), you get "cdeklmstu" from the 9 characters in the image Nightgod posted. You can then rearrange these to "melt ducks". So who is going to melt their GT duck first?
